Nashville, Tennessee

As the city where Country music is made and performed, it is impossible to loose interest in the city of Nashville, Tennessee. However, Country music is not the only reason to come to this city. The city offers a variety of attractions, places to stay, colleges, sports, places to stay, and things to do.

Nashville is famous for the industry of Country Music. Every summer, the CMA Fest is held in Nashville. At the 2007 CMA Fest, performers included Terri Clark, Craig Morgan, Jaime O’Neal, Jake Owen, Sarah Buxton, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town and Sugarland. Artists held fan club parties during the event and a charity softball game was played.

The CMA Fest is just one of many tourist attractions available in Nashville, and in the general area around the city. Tourists can see the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Tennessee Central Railway Museum, Belmont Mansion, and the Adventure Science Center. Other attractions include the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, the Wildhorse Saloon, the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, the Nashville Symphony, and the Nashville Ballet. There are many theme parks in Tennessee too, such as Dollywood, Fun Mountain, SixFlags, and Libertyland.

There are also many tours offered in Nashville. Tourists can get tickets for the popular General Jackson cruises and shows or take the Nashville City tour, to get more out of the popular city. Bus tours around the city are also available, as well as carriage rides. There is also a Stars Home Tour, which takes tourists driving through the neighborhoods where Country Artists live. Trolley tours are also available.

There are also a few professional sports teams in Tennessee. Belonging to the NHL are the Nashville Predators. The Nashville Kats belong to the AFL and the Tennessee Titans are part of the NFL. College teams include the Memphis Tigers, the Tennessee Volunteers, and the Vanderbilt Commodores.

If you are deciding on going to college in Tennessee, there are quite a few to choose from. Colleges include Cappella University Online, Argosy University, Strayer University, and Remington College. There is also Devry University, Vanderbilt University, and Aquinas College.

There are also many airports in Tennessee, if you don’t feel like driving home. In Athens is the Mcminn airport and in Centerville is the Municipal Airport. There is the Jasper Airport and also, the Nashville Metro Airport. Then there is the Tri-City Municipal Airport and the Memphis International Airport.

If you’re planning a vacation in Tennessee, there are many places to stay. The Best Western Convention Center is located downtown in Nashville, and there is also one located downtown in Music Row. There is also the Sheraton Hotel and the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. Other hotels in Nashville include the Sheraton Music City hotel, the Quality Inn, and the Doubletree Hotel.

Nashville’s biggest and most successful industry is the Country Music Industry. The city is home to many successful artists who’ve made their living by writing and/or singing Country music. It’s probably the reason why the city gets so much acclaim and attention by the media, and why so many people visit the city.
